What You Don’t Have To Do

A few dont's
by Matt Haig

Don't envy things you wouldn't actually want.
Don't absorb criticism from people you wouldn't go to for advice.
Don't fear missing parties you'd probably want to leave.
Don't worry about fitting in. Be your own tribe.
Don't argue with people who will never understand you.
Don't believe anyone has it all figured out.
Don't imagine there is an amount of money or success or fame that could insulate you from pain.
Don't think there is a type of face or job or relationship that safeguards happiness.
Don't say yes to things you wish you had the confidence to say no to.
Don't worry if you do.

What Don’t You Have to Do This Week?

You may have seen this poem before. If you’ve been on my email list for a while, you may have seen it from me. I’m bringing back this poem and theme this week as a reminder that you get to chose your mindset this week. I hope this poem inspires you this week as it did for me.

I am so grateful that you allow me in your inbox each week and can’t wait until I am back teaching. I am getting closer in the process to opening a studio in downtown Mount Prospect and learning why these things take much longer than anticipated. If you have any thoughts, ideas, or classes you’d like to see, I’d love as always to hear from you. You, my clients and friends, are what makes this opportunity possible for me.

Affirmation for the week: I am in control.

I hope that you take time to listen to yourself this week so that you can figure out what your dont’s are.
