Take your yoga off the mat
Learnings, teachings and tips & tricks for anyone to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and moments when you need a pick me up.
Stressed? Can Yoga help?
Have you heard about the benefits of yoga? I’m sure you have.
In the next couple weeks, our themes will be centered around the different benefits of yoga. However, I also want us to look at what hinders us from practicing. It is often not enough to just know the benefits. For example, I know that eating green vegetables every day has many benefits for my health, however, there are many days I choose not to eat them.
Mothers
Mother’s Day this week is a chance for us to celebrate all the mom figures in our lives and all the ways we nurture and take care of others. Let’s first recognize that this day may be hard for some as they await their time to be a mom, for those who have lost a mom or child, and for those who have difficult relationships with their moms.
Aparigraha
Aparigraha is about letting go of what’s not serving us so we can be who we’re meant to be.
Rising up to a challenge
“Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.”― Roy T. Bennett
Time for a self-love refresh
Let’s add to our spring refresh a refreshed sense of love for ourselves.
If you don’t invest in yourself, who will?
If you follow along on my Instagram, you might have seen yesterday that I collaborated with some other amazing business ladies to do a branding shoot. It was a little uncomfortable for me, as it always is, to take pictures of myself and invest in my business. Do you find it difficult to invest in yourself? Do you find it easier to invest in others? Your significant other? Children? Friends?
What happens when you listen and notice?
you've taken a class from me, you've likely heard the words "notice without judgment" and "listen to your body" quite often. It's so much easier said than done, however. I've been working on it a few ways this week…
Hygge
This morning as I laid out the snow pants, boots, gloves and hats, I knew my kids would be less than thrilled with the snow. It’s not the snow they don’t like as much as the change. The change in routine and change in clothing needed. It got me thinking about resistance to change and how it affects us.
Child’s Pose and the Vagus Nerve
Ever wonder why child’s pose is considered a rest pose? Ever thought about having your child take a child’s pose before doing homework? Or maybe just putting their forehead down on their desk at school or table at home?
Mindfulness Minute: Gratitude
“Practicing gratitude invites joy into our life.” -Brene Brown
Today’s “Minute of Mindfulness” practice is a bedtime routine in our household. A few years ago we started asking the kids at bedtime each night two questions.
Mindfulness Minute
I’ve read that you can not breath deep and have anxiety at the same time. So all my anxious people out there, let’s interrupt our anxiety today. Just for today, just for this moment. Stop. Breathe in. Pause. Breathe out.
Mindfulness Minute for Moms
Today’s minute of mindfulness practice works especially well for tantrum-ing toddlers, cranky kids or any other moments when you don’t like the energy you’re surrounded with and also don’t have the option to remove yourself from the situation.
Mindfulness Minute: Air and Water
Air and Water!
A friend told me today how she often reminds herself of something I mentioned in one of my classes:
Air and water are free, we have access to them anytime, they both have healing properties, and we often forget about them.
