The Power of Connection

Connection is why we’re here. It’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.

Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.

-Brene Brown

Yoga (noun): "The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to yoke,” or “to unite”. The practice aims to create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness." -Yogapedia

To practice yoga, to have this union requires connection between body and breath.

This week I’m focusing my mindset on the power of connection. Yoga, using our breath and body in connection, is such a powerful healing practice.

Sometimes as the seasons and weather change, I feel the urge to disconnect. To stay home under a warm blanket. And while there is a time for that, I think there is also so much beauty in connecting. How can you be a connector this week? Maybe it’s connecting to yourself, your body and breath, so that you can better authentically show up. Maybe it’s thinking about a relationship you have that could benefit from the other person feeling seen, heard, and valued and showing up for them this week. Maybe it’s connecting to a stranger through a smile or a held door.

Affirmation for the week:

I am seen

I am heard

I am valued
