Letting Our Creativity Flow

“You can’t use up your creativity, the more you use, the more you have to give.” -Oscar Wilde

How often do you use your creative muscle?

We had our neighborhood block party this weekend. As the kids were screaming with joy and zipping down the waterslide for hours, my neighbor told me a story about how he read something in a book that stuck with him. It talked about how as adults we limit our capacity for joy, while kids have an unlimited capacity for joy. I think the same goes with creativity. How often do we deny ourselves the opportunity to play, find joy, or be creative because we believe we should or must be adults instead?

This week I’m challenging us to add some creativity to our week.

On the yoga mat, our kids’ classes will focus on colors. I have a few spots left for the kids’ yoga and charcuterie event on Friday. Kids’ creative juices will flow as they make funny faces out of food. In our adult classes, we’ll be creative in our poses, listening to our body as we flow.

Off the mat, think about how it feels when you’re in a creative flow. What activity can you do this week to bring out that side of you?

Affirmation for the week:

I allow creativity to flow through me.
